Here are my final concepts of my bridges on how I completed this final peace is I drew some rough sketches of different types of bridges from Simple Beam Bridges to the Big Suspension Bridges that are like seven bridges in one.
modelling My Simple Beam Bridge in sketch up gave me the correct perspective of my bridge. In earlier stages of the project, I started drawing and sketching my Ideal bridge onto paper, I then moved on from experimenting with my drawing and moved onto photo bashing the idea is to pan out my experimentation’s to give me a wider range of Ideas to experiment with.I have chosen to do water under the bridge because it acts as nature friendly And doesn’t destroy the environment. This isn’t the only reason I have chosen to do this bridge, I got my reference from Skyrim, Skyrim is an old MMO That includes Dragons, goblins and magic , In the landscape they had a few of the same small arch bridges that I have discovered from exploration.
The texture of the bridge is too clean for my opinion In further time I will redesign my Arch Bridge into a more fitting environment and improve my presentation for the next stage of my development. Instead the textures been just stone and stone bricks, I will add moss and algae to the bridge for it to have some wear and tear also move on to develop crack and broken bricks.
Here is A simple Beam Bridge I modelled in sketch up. The bridge feels like it should be I an animation more than a game the colours are bright and the style of the concept is cartoony. I added some trees to fill up the background and to give it an environmental feeling.
Here is a bridge that I got off From the 3D warehouse in the sketch up tab,. This arch Bridge is a bridge with abutments at each end shaped as a curved arch. I wanted my design to a to have a structure of it been a Simple beam bridge and an arch bridge. While I was designed this bridge It reminded me Of most of the bridges that are used in Skyrim. These Bridges Are Usually made out of stone and wooden timber.
Fact: the Oldest existing arch bridge is in the Mycenaean Arkadiko that is in Greece Backdated 1300 BC, The bridge is still in use by Local Populace source file
In this project, I feel Like I have done More research than most of my other project 1 year ago, I would never be thought of the architecture of some of these bridges on how they were developed. I have also learned how to create bridges with the right structure beams are placed for the bridge to stay stable or stay together. I experimented with my ideas and it allowed me to have a great range of bridges to chose from. The trees in my final concept look real and doesn’t suit the rest of the concept.
Here I will show you and explain my Photobashing design that I did in photoshop.
What is Photobashing?
Photobashing is a type of digital illustration in which photos/pieces of photos are manipulated together. This technic is Used by some artist but This particular artist caught my attention. Maciej Kuciara is a concept designer and illustrator for films and video games industry in Los Angeles, California.Maciej went ahead and worked for Big title films including X-men: Days of Futures Past, Guardians of the Galaxy, Jupiter Ascending and video game The Last of Us. here you can find the artists Blog
Maciej Work is very detailed and some look very realistic with the colour tones he uses in photoshop. Before I started Interactive media At my college I thought photoshop was only used to edit photos but it wasn’t till when I saw the digital art on google images and start to research about that image, how was it made etc.
Here I have tried to do some Photobashing for myself And it turned out to look okay, I see that the colour coordinations are not right some parts are grey and some parts are green. The Photos that were used in this picture are 3 separate images, a mountain
, Landscape and big boulders. In the images, I have stuck these images in variety places around the landscape this would give it a better scenery to look at. I have put the images down below to show what the original image looked like.
Here I experimented with the lasso tool in photoshop, The tool allows me to draw random shapes that can cause pareidolia in your image. My experience with the lasso tool is that some cases when I use the tool I can’t seem to find or create what I am trying to look for within the canvas.
When I don’t feel like I can’t see any improvement in my image I decided to create another image with a lot more random lines drawn from my lasso tool.
Photoshop actually gives us three variations of a lasso to work with. One is a (Magnetic lasso tool ) This allows it to attach itself to your drawing lines on your image, the tool is also helpful to crop images and blend them with other images on another image. The lasso tool allows you to draw dotted lines like a paint brush on your canvas Once you have finished painting ng your invisible line each end will connect and highlight your area that you have painted.
Here is some lasso concept I Had done in photoshop, The way I did this method was taught by out tutor making random squiggle lines highlight the areas, Go into hue
Situations and change the colour of it within the highlighted area, With the image highlighted and coloured I would look for an image of a bridge in this picture this is known as pareidolia. I seemed to figure out a pattern what can form a bridge and I went over the lines in with the Brush tool that I thought I could create.
This session We were told to create as many 3D lights set up in 3DS Max.In 3ds max, I re-opened my Crank file from 3D realisation, As I have already modelled my mesh I was enlightened to set up a lighting rig for that mesh.
What does lighting do?
Lighting is very important to bring the most out of you mesh, Lighting will be able to spot fine detail and cast smooth shadows on and around your mesh. Ambient occlusion Is also well worth a try because it gives the mesh depth and greater detail.
I have Taken different shot angles of my mesh with a different material (blue). this will give you full visual of my mesh and what Basic rendering can do for your models. I still need to improve greatly on the lighting and rendering for my future projects.
For my Final Render, I have separated my meshes into 3 different views this allows you to see the prop in a different perspective.
I coloured the prop in a blue base colour to make it stand out to the background and for it to give another example on what it may look like if it were to be textured.
Between each render, I like the bottom image better, it stands out to all the others and gives you a cleaner look than the first render I had done.I want to get better at rendering because I think it is the key thing to give my props the full potential of detail.
Brief Pitch about this Post:
This post I will Gaver and learn research about Andrea Susini Concept artwork. The aim to reach after this research is to know and understand who the artist is and what kind of artwork he creates.Andrea Susini First started to do his artwork in August 2012, He started a Graphic design, Designing logos and graphical images.here you can visual Andrea Susini graphic visual.
His work displays colourful and abandoned structures that involve Painted like textures here I will show you a reference image of dishonoured texture design. Here.
Andrea Susini Has a verity different drawing Backgrounds from character design, Environment artist, manyVehicle design much more. The image below shows you categories that he has on his Online Portfolio
About Andrea Susini
Andrea Susini who is a concept designer who Is currently a Freelancer that currently works for Advertisements and The Games design industry. Andrea Susini who is from Italy Greece. He is also a fan of Back to the future and sci-fi film Now I can see that this is where He gets is sci-fi look from his own personal drawings.
Andrea Susini Blog post all these images are from his own personal Blog post.
Here are some of his concept pictures of the Bridge structure, The first picture at the top right you can see a small bridge that isn’t made of wood but naturally formed by a rock.

To explore more options with Photoshop I decided to do a self-portrait, This photo was taken on the way to manchester airport in March 2016. I used the brush in photoshop to match my skin colour, hair and my clothes.
I am happy with my final outcome of my concept art of myself. I have been looking at other concept arts of self-portrait like Van Gogh, quote ‘Van Gogh did not have money to pay models to pose for portraits nor did he have many people commissioning him to do portraits, so Van Gogh painted his own portrait. Van Gogh did not see portrait painting as merely a means to an end’ I will show you some of the paintings, Van Gogh created.
I will carry on trying to improve my skills in photoshop and experiment with different methods what suits me with concept art.
